2018 Recap

2018 Recap

Two thousand eighteen was a year of personal growth for me. Some of you may be aware I started a new job in Utah in late 2017 as a producer and project manager for Vivint Smart Home. The company is a leader in the smart home space and is located in Provo, UT. My roll over the year has progressed from project management and producing shoots to being more involved in the filming and editing of our projects as my skills grew in those areas. I’m very proud of the growth I’ve made as a videographer and as a creative this year.
2018 was also a year of me stepping out of my comfort zone. As you will see below, I did several commercial jobs for some of my favorite companies as well as stepping in front of the camera.
Moving out of Seattle was one of the most challenging decisions I’ve had to make but seeing the growth I’ve made as a result is an indicator that I made the correct choice. That being said, I’m hoping to spend more time there this year working and visiting friends. May 2019 be as incredible and growth driving as this year.

J.Crew Mens – Jeans

I was asked to trial and photograph myself utilizing the new jeans from J.Crew Mens. These were all self-portraits, taken with my 2nd camera.

J.Crew Mens – One Warm Coat Project

Stepping back in front of the camera, but this time with the help of Jenna of Jenna Elizabeth Photography

J.Crew partnered up with One Warm Coat to give a discount to those who brought in a lightly used coat or jacket to the store to donate to OWC.

Cascade Mtn. Tech

This job was oddly timed as I had just noticed their equipment in our Costco here in Utah a few days before they reached out. I was really drawn to the rotomolded cooler seen below. I’ve yet to run out of ice in that thing and I’ve gone quite a few days in a row in the middle of summer. It’s pretty special. Other things they sent over were those very collapsable chairs, walking poles and a beanie. Really enjoyed working with them this summer and looking forward to working with them again next year. Shout out to Charlotte for being a great model.

Domani Group Headshots

While I don’t often take on headshots, I always try to do them differently. These were shot in an amazing building here in American Fork. It was filled with some cool old industrial equipment and some new tech offices. The contrast was really quite nice and made for finding locations for these shots pretty easy.

The Environmental Defence Fund

I came into this work from The H Hub Their mission is to protect our outdoors and environment so we as humans can not only survive but can continue to enjoy it for recreation.

Birthday Helicopter Rides

Jenna surprised me with a helicopter ride over the Wasatch Mountains with one of my favorite Instagrammers iflyheli. York is not only one of the nicest people I’ve met, but is quite the photographer himself. This was absoutely the highlight of my year.

Denver

When we shoot destination weddings together we still have to make some time for adventuring.

Southern Utah Cabins

A group of old friends reunited in Southern Utah at the same place that Ronnie and Natalie tied the knot a couple of years ago. It’s always amazing to be back in the area where I attended college.

Checking off some of Utah’s backcountry byways.

Finding Bison on a frozen island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake.

Camping and finding some lesser traveled roads in Moab with Jenna.

The day job as a Producer / Videographer takes us to some pretty neat places as well.

Went back to Nevada to spend Thanksgiving in Ely and then drove another 3 hours to Tonapah Nevada to spend a couple of days with my parents.
