Cinestill 800T Natural Light Test with Devyn

Cinestill 800T Natural Light Test with Devyn

I set out on this testing session for; Cinestill 800T natural light testing and to work on some portraiture. The former yielded some pretty interesting results as you can see below.

The scanning tech at Richards Photo Lab noted there needed to be a significant amount of magenta added to get the skin tones close. I also had several curves layers to mitigate the excessive magenta. Huge thanks to Jack at RPL for chatting with me about the colors of such a unique film. I think this film may yield ever better results with a fairer skin toned model. Devyn is always a joy to shoot and catch up with.

All of the images were shot in natural or window light.  There is a mix of 5D markiii and Leica M3 with Portra 400 and Cinestill 800T. I really forgot how quickly window light loses intensity as you move away from the edge. Many of the images fall off almost instantly despite the background being a white wall, not far away. Overall, I really like the unique look Cinestill 800T provides in a natural light environment.
